A lifelong love of the arts deserves a front-row seat

There’s something about live performance that never gets old: the anticipation as the lights dim; the first movement on stage; the feeling of experiencing something beautiful alongside a room full of people.

At United Active Living, we believe those moments should remain part of a rich, interesting life at every age. As a locally owned and operated Calgary company, we also believe deeply in being part of the cultural life of the city we call home. It’s one of the reasons we’re proud to partner with Alberta Ballet, bringing residents closer to extraordinary performances, artists, and experiences both on stage and within our older adult communities.

For United’s residents, that has meant opportunities to attend dress rehearsals and exclusive in-community experiences that offer a glimpse behind the curtain. Residents meet those intimately involved with the production, hear their stories, and discover more about the creativity, discipline, and passion that bring a ballet to life.

For resident Sheila, attending an Alberta Ballet dress rehearsal was one of those memorable experiences. “We feel so special that we had the opportunity to attend the dress rehearsal,” she says. “It was meaningful to be there and experience the performance in such a special way. United’s support of the arts isn’t just something we see from a distance. It means we can actually be there and experience these performances up close.”

That distinction matters.

At United, we don’t see the arts as simply entertainment. They are an invitation to feel something, discover something, learn something, and connect with others. Our partnership with Alberta Ballet is one way we bring that belief to life, creating opportunities for residents to remain active participants in Calgary’s vibrant arts community.

Because a lifelong love of the arts shouldn’t have a final act.
